HOW TO PRAY EFFECTIVELY WITH ANSWERS

Praise God! Once again, we had a truly blessed Bible Study session this Wednesday. Glory to God! The theme “HOW TO PRAY EFFECTIVELY WITH ANSWERS” was so timely — we needed it! From the very beginning, our man of God led us in a solemn moment of prayer and intercession for our nation. He then continued by giving us a rare understanding of prayer — an understanding that many lack, and which is very likely the reason so many don’t get answers when they pray. We came to understand the vital role of words and visions in prayer, the relationship between fasting and vision, the place of tongues, prayer, and prophecy, and how God speaks through us and exercises His authority over circumstances. Hallelujah! It was indeed a rich and loaded session that stirred everyone to love prayer even more and to pray effectively with results. Hallelujah! Enjoy the highlights below and be sure to watch the full message too.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS TEACHING:

  1. The Power of Vision in Prayer

If you want to be effective in prayer, you must first have a clear picture in your mind. Prayer begins with vision — with an image of what you desire to see some circumstance change to. It is into that image of the change that you send your instructive words. If you see nothing, you will create nothing. Effective prayer, therefore, does not start with words — it starts with a picture of the desire. You must train your mind to see the transformation you desire. We have the responsibility to make things move. If you want to effect change through prayer, you must see the change first. Your words are meant to give substance to what you’ve already seen. Without a picture, your prayer becomes vain. That’s why, at the place of prayer, quality meditation should be a priority.

  1. Why we Speak when we Pray

You are not doing much in prayer until you have first seen the change and the image is clear in your spirit. God asked Jeremiah, “What seest thou?” (Jeremiah 1:11). If vision were not important, why would God ask His prophet what he could see? God, who made man, knows exactly how man should function. Vision is the ability to see clearly. When you pray, describe the change you expect — not just with words, but with the pictures formed in your mind. Why do we then speak words when we pray? Because words help us form and anchor thoughts. When you pray with understanding and vision, your words carry creative power, and you become effective in producing real change. The advantage of this is clear — you become effective in creating change through prayer. Hallelujah!

  1. Guard your Faith from the World’s Opinions

Anyone who has not seen results in prayer will rarely promote it. Many who say, “It’s not all about prayer,” do so because they never had results when they prayed. When believers pray without results, it gives unbelievers even more reason to dismiss prayer as meaningless. Never subject your convictions to the opinions of the world. The enemy will either discourage you from praying or distort your understanding of prayer. He cannot encourage what threatens him. Even the disciples of Jesus had been praying long before He came, but when they observed Him, they noticed something different. His prayers produced results. That is why they came to Him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray.” (Luke 11:1). The church today must also learn how to pray effectively. Many in the church pray as a mere religious routine — like the religious Jews who prayed always but saw no change. But there are those who pray because they understand the reward of prayer and they see results.

  1. The Role of Fasting to Prayer

There are moments when God will ask you what you see because He wants to perfect your sight before He sents His Word. This is where fasting comes in. Fasting is not meant to change God; it is designed to sharpen your vision at prayer. It purifies your focus, separates you from distractions, and aligns your spirit for clarity. That is why the discipline of prayer should never be rushed. The secret of answered prayer lies in vision before confession — seeing before speaking. Ecclesiastes 5:1 says, “Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.” Talking is preceded by good hearing. When you go to pray, go first to see, because God wants to ask you, “What do you see?” He wants to show you something. Let God speak first at prayer.

  1. What you See is Achievable

If you are only and always crying at the place of prayer, then there’s no faith. Faith is proven when you start laughing in expectation because you’re convinced it’s possible and done. If you can paint the change in your mind, then it’s possible. When God visited the people building the Tower of Babel, He said, “…and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do,” (Genesis 11:6). That statement was a revelation to us: once you can see it, it means it’s achievable. If you truly believe what you see, your mood will reflect it. If your attitude doesn’t change, it means you’re seeing the vision but not yet believing it. That is why you must take time to fast — not to impress God, but to sharpen your focus and resist distractions. Fasting helps you see clearly and stay fixed on the vision God showed you. So, don’t let go. Pray until something happens. Hold fast until what you’ve seen becomes what you live. Hallelujah!

  1. The Power of Talking

Anyone who tells you that it’s not by talking is speaking for Satan. Check what Satan tries to minimize — that’s how you know what truly works. What the world criticizes most about the Church is what the Church needs most. Why do they fight speaking in tongues so fiercely? God Himself created the heavens and the earth by talking. The Bible tells us in James 3:1, “My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation… Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.” The phrase “many masters” means many teachers, because by talking, you change many things. You can control your affairs with your words. People who speak carelessly often end up laboring with their hands to get results their mouths could have produced. If you don’t learn how to speak rightly, you’ll spend your life trying to control with strength what you should have commanded with words.

  1. Address your Life with words

James 3:4: “A small rudder on a huge ship in the hands of a skilled captain sets a course in the face of the strongest winds” (MSB)
James 3:5: “A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything–or destroy it! It only takes a spark, remember, to set off a forest fire.” (MSB)

How far will your life go before you decide to address it? Will you choose to deal with causes or just react to effects? Whatever blows against you — before you act, talk first. Don’t respond with frustration; respond with faith-filled words. James 3:5 says, “Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!” Your tongue may be small, but it’s the steering wheel of your destiny. What great things have you stopped, started, changed, or removed with your tongue? Great things move by words. Christian maturity begins with right talking. You know you’re growing spiritually when you’ve learned to talk well.

  1. The Holy Spirit: The Presence of the Father in us

“Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works,” (John 14:10).

One of the main reasons why God lives in us is to do His works through us. But how does He do them? By speaking through you. In Matthew 10:20, our Lord Jesus tells us, “For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.” If the Father in Christ Jesus spoke and created all things, and now that same Spirit lives in us, what can’t be created through us? That’s why our Lord Jesus said, “…and greater works than these shall he do,” (John 14:12). We can do greater works because His Spirit now abides in us permanently. The Holy Spirit is the presence of the Father in us, and the first thing He does when He comes into your life is speak through you. If the Holy Spirit will truly guide your life into God’s perfect plan, He must take hold of your tongue. No matter how real the Holy Spirit is in you, until He starts talking through you, your progress will be limited. Your words determine your world — and the Holy Spirit wants to shape your world through your words. Hallelujah!

  1. The Power of Prophecy

“And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied,” (Acts 19:6).

The original meaning of prophecy is “words uttered from the Spirit.” These are words the Spirit gives you that express God’s mind concerning a person, a thing, or a situation or circumstance. Every true prophecy glorifies God. Prophecy brings the glory of God into manifestation. So, if there’s a lack of glory in your life, prophesy! Speak forth the words the Spirit gives you, and His glory will appear. When the Holy Spirit truly takes over your life, He will touch both your mind and your mouth. He will open your understanding to see what the Father sees about people and situations, and He will give you the words to declare it. The Spirit speaks through you to create, restore, and reveal God’s glory in your world. So, yield your tongue to Him. Let the Father in you speak, and let your world change. Hallelujah!

Hallelujah! What a word! Are we not truly blessed to receive such wisdom from above? With this teaching, our prayer lives and spiritual discipline will become more effective, and we will see tangible, positive changes in our lives. Indeed, we are destined to manifest the glory of God in every area of our world.

Let’s spread this powerful teaching and be a blessing to others!
