“But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife” (Genesis 20.3)
- The Divine Protection of the Sent One
The story in our theme verse is an interesting one. It’s about Abraham and the king Abimelech. When Abraham arrived Gerar, because he had a beautiful wife, he was afraid the king will kill him and take his wife. So, he told Sarah to say they’re siblings. That was half the truth, however, he was covering up the full truth. True to his fear, the king loved Sarah and took her as his wife. However, before he could sleep with her, we are told he was visited by the Lord in a dream and severely cautioned. The visitation made Abimelech to tremble. “Thou art but a dead man”, the Lord said.
- The Weight of a Prophet’s Office
Then the Lord followed up with instructions on what he should do, after the king confessed his innocence, saying, “Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine” (Genesis 20:7 KJV). Did you see that? “…FOR HE IS A PROPHET…”. What that means is “That is my envoy; you don’t joke with him or what belongs to him.” Now the famous quote: “…Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm” (1 Chronicles 16.22). You see, some people who do not understand the mind of God think that everyone in God’s Kingdom is the same. That’s an offensive and destructive deception.

“Receiving a prophet simply means recognizing him as one sent by God and giving him the due reverence and honour due one sent from God.”

- A Catalyst for Falling or Rising
There are people in God’s Kingdom, who are specifically anointed and sent on specific missions. You have to recognize that, especially as a child of God, and realize they’re not sent against you but for you. When our Lord Jesus was born, Simeon prophesied saying, “… Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;” (Luke 2:34). You see, men of God carry such honour on them. They can be for your falling or your rising based on how you treat them. Abimelech didn’t know this and was about to lose his life, for touching what belonged to the man. That’s on the negative. If God could visit a man to caution him for dishonouring a man of God, what do you think happens in the spirit for honouring a man of God? Think.
- Accessing Peace and Uncommon Prosperity
You see, heaven visits a person with grace when a man of God is honoured or well received. That is why our Lord Jesus when sending out His disciples said, “And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again” (Luke 10:5/6). Did you see that? What was that peace for, so much so that it returns if it doesn’t find honour? As a child of God, understand that you’ll experience such a blessed divine visitation for supernatural prosperity if honour your Man of God. His peace will abide in your house and over the works of your hands, ushering you into a realm of prosperity uncommon to men. Take that for God’s Word. God honours the man He sends to you, and honours you when you honour them.
“… for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed” (1 Samuel 2:30 NKJV)
…now you can walk the light walk.
| PRAYER | Dear Father, I thank You for the gift of the men and women You have anointed and sent into my life. I ask for a heart of discernment and humility to recognize Your voice through them. I repent of every past act of dishonor, whether in thought or word, and I choose today to hold Your servants in high esteem. May the peace and the rewards locked within their office find a resting place in my home and my business. I declare that as I honor those You have sent, Your favor surrounds me like a shield, and I walk in a new realm of supernatural prosperity and divine protection. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
