BELIEVE IN THE GATHERING OF THE SAINTS

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” – Psalm 133:1

  • The Beauty of Togetherness

In the English language, an exclamation mark reveals the tone of the author; it expresses an excited or emphatic thought. The aim is to let the reader share in the emotion of the writer. Our theme verse ends with an exclamation mark; it reveals the amazement and excitement of the author regarding the thought communicated. In this case, the author seeks to let the reader see that the unity of the saints is a beautiful sight to behold. Think about that. He says, “…how good and how pleasant…!”

  • Understanding God’s Excitement in Fellowship

As a Christian, it is so important to believe such revelations from the Spirit of the Lord. Until the Word of God influences our faith, our motives, and our actions, we will not experience its reality. We have got to get excited about what excites God. If God’s Word says the fellowship (or togetherness) of the saints is good and pleasant, we show ourselves to be wise when we expect to share in its goodness. Our expectations set the limits of our experiences, and our understanding shapes our expectations.

  • The Wisdom of Gathering

Going to church is an honouring of God’s wisdom for His children. The fellowship of the saints is not a human idea; it is the will of God the Father. The Lord Jesus Christ says, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). We see that the gathering of believers is God’s design. Jesus said that if we gather in honour of His name as members of His body, then He will be present in such a gathering. Pause for a moment and give this careful thought. Do you expect the presence of Jesus when you go to church? This is important because it determines what you experience.

  • Your Expectations Create the Blessing of Fellowship

The fellowship of the saints carries the promise of the presence and authority of Jesus Christ. The woman with the issue of blood in Matthew 9 understood this truth and came with a heart full of expectation. The Psalmist likens such a gathering to the dew of Hermon that descends upon the mountains of Zion (Psalm 133:3), speaking of the refreshing presence of Christ among His people. In such fellowship, the Spirit of God brings comfort, direction, and divine refreshing, ministering to His children beyond their expectations. Believe in the gathering of the saints, plan to be in church this weekend, and expect your blessing—for there is always more for those who believe God’s Word!

…now you can walk the light walk.

| CONFESSION | I honour the Word of God; I live by God’s wisdom as I honour the gathering of the saints. I experience the refreshing dew of the Spirit; I am refreshed, strengthened, and instructed in righteousness as I fellowship with other believers. Amen.
